As We May Blog May Blog: May we stop now?

Thursday, May 31st, 2007 | 3 Comments »

An eventful month! What did we learn? Well… not much, I’m afraid:

All in all, I give the May Blog a 7 out of 10. It met expectations, but certainly didn’t exceed them. I missed some bloggable moments that I think would have helped immensely: an insane night out at The Box (no Lohan, sadly), the peeping tom video of SUPERCAR, a joyful account of the woman with the green lipstick finally saying “good morning” to me on the way to work, and a man on the street interview with the kid with the dump truck.

Maybe next May.

As We May Blog May Blog Thru May

Monday, April 30th, 2007 | 7 Comments »

With the notable exception of the burrito tunnel coverage earlier this month, I’m ashamed to say that April 2007 will go down as one of the lamer months on this here blog. (Contenders include any month leading up to the 2004 election and this February.) My readership is declining and my ad revenues are providing local high schoolers with valuable lessons about the geometric properties of parallel lines. It’s time to do something bold.

As We May Blog will blog every day for the entire month of May.

Happily, the need to liven up this blog just so happens to dovetail with my own personal desire to set and achieve some arbitrary goal. Since running a marathon is too hard and reviewing all 31 flavors is too fattening, updating the blog seemed like the only logical course of action. I can’t promise it will be good but, by God, it will be fresh. Met Foods can’t even promise that.

Blogger gets lazier

I can’t tell you the number of times people approach me in the street and ask, "What were the last ten articles you read on RSS-enabled websites and found interesting, in reverse chronological order?" Well I can’t stop people from asking that question, but I can now point them to the new content chip at the top of the right sidebar. As We May Recommend is a list of the last ten articles I found interesting. Other people provide the content, Google Reader provides the technology: it’s a casual blogger’s dream come true.

Now there’s a reason to visit more than once a month!

Dare to imagine a world sans Comic Sans

Friday, January 26th, 2007 | 1 Comment »

I have a new blog! It’s sanscomicsans.com and it operates under the bylaws of The Content Webring.

I’ve had this going for a little while but I wasn’t sure what exactly to do with it. It’s more professional in nature so expect to see posts about design, user experience, and technology. Today I posted a riveting analysis of a WEATHER GRAPHIC. Don’t everyone rush over there so fast that you bring my server down.

Giving those posts their own home seemed logical, since it seems like most of you are here to read about sports and Brooklyn gossip. Anyway, if you do wander over there, leave a comment if you find something interesting. I’d like it to be more than just another blahg about design. I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve.

This is the post where we talk about Running for Drugs’ greatest hits

The laundry limbo post was an instant classic and will keep ‘em talking for years to come. Share your favorite RfD moments in the comments, we’ll all cry together.

Elsewhere, jackal alerts us to technical difficulties at oculon.org (could Jeff from Git-n-Go be behind this?) and TB3′s return from the dead caused a minor disturbance of the peace this morning in Brooklyn.

Finally, if you’re reading this from the Ann Arbor area and have any interest in some secondhand furniture, check out these ads:

We’re doing well, if you’re curious. We tried to see Kronos Quartet and Philip Glass accompany Dracula in Prospect Park last night but a) the line was literally half a mile long and b) the humidity turned the act of breathing into a full body workout. It turned out for the best, as it stormed later and likely washed out the performance.
