I was messing around with embeddable Google Maps for a legitimate, work-related purpose this morning. The result of this exploration was, well, not so work-related. Here are four of my favorite bars within a few blocks of the office.

Yes it’s 11 am and yes it’s been a long week.

Dial-a-Brew, Take Two

Monday, January 8th, 2007 | 6 Comments »

I spent part of yesterday updating the back end of the Dial-a-Brew. It now runs off a MySQL database instead of the Perl script I lifted from another site years ago. Yeah, yeah, who cares. Check it out at asstastic.org/beer.

The point of this post is to get your suggestions for Dial-a-Brew features. The dedicated brewserver is now more scalable and robust, so I feel confident that with your help, the Dial-a-Brew can become a best-of-class Web 1.0 app.

Current known bugs features

  • The famous spinning bottlecap isn’t active yet
  • The colorblind design
  • Some reviews are now dangerously unfunny, three years later

Potential features

  1. More beers
  2. Open commenting
  3. Unique URLs
  4. If you liked this beer, try…

I’m particularly excited about #2, I feel like it could be a killer feature. Imagine, if you will, the entry for Miller Lite:

I’m Rooooobert, I spilled this beer eeeeeverywhere
