CNN identifies spoilage

From CNN’s Sopranos recap:

CNN is (not) a lot of things but it is definitely not a spoiler, which is much more than I can say for either the New Yorker or the New York Times (spoilers in both places). The New Yorker article spoiled one specific piece of the last season for me; had I not caught up by last weekend, the Times would have spoiled everything preceding last night’s final episode. (I thought the finale was exceptionally good, even by Sopranos standards. Also, I’d like to offer up a new verb for the lexicon: to be Leotardoed.)

Anyway, to get back to the point, the spoiler alert shows that CNN has its finger on the pulse of its readership. After all, it’s not like anyone is going to CNN to read the news. As for the cognitive style of the “Story Highlights,” I’ll save that for another day. Although the points are factually correct: the earth did not shake after last night’s Sopranos.

nothing says pay attention to me like some italics after Story Highlights and before 12pt Georgia…is there such a thing as highlights blindness?
